We are on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies but still close to all the action in Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. Dollywood, Louise Mandrell and many more sites are just 45 minutes away in Pigeon Forge. Also there is the outlet capital, it's a shoppers paradise. In Gatlinburg you can enjoy Ripley's Aquarium along with many other wonderful attractions, and fine dining. Enjoy the friendly walk thru town and visit the many shops. Gatlinburg is approximatley 30 minutes away.
Staying on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies, you can visit Townsend where we have the Little River Railroad Museum, tubing the river, Tuckaleechee Caverns and many other wonderful sites. You will be 10 miles from the Western entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Once there Cades Cove is a must to see. It's a valley where people lived in the 1800's, you will be able to view many churches, cabins, houses, the old mill and numerous hiking trails. This will put you back to years of the past.
In Townsend at the Little River Railroad Museum, you will be able to see the Shay train engine which was in service here untill the 1930's. At the museum you can see how lumber was logged out of the mountains and transported to Townsend to the saw mill. The museum offers many wonderful photo's of the past and a great experience to visit the train and museum.
